Fire at Ex Ilva
Fire at ArcelorMittal, the former Ilva of Taranto. The trade unions Fim, Fiom and Uilm denounce the Steelworks 2 department of the plant. Apparently a casting boiler that contains molten metal would have pierced it causing steel to be poured into the pit and causing very high flames that reached some gas pipes. Fortunately, the timely intervention of the firefighters allowed the emergency to be managed in a professional manner, avoiding the worst.
In addition to the escaped danger, the unions reveal a lack of resources, such as the complete absence of the water distribution of the emergency line which was to be useful for replenishing the tanks and supporting the entire steel plant in the event of a fire. The RSUs of Fim, Fiom and Uilm deem these conditions unacceptable, demonstrating that Steelworks 2 and all the other plants require immediate interventions and serious maintenance. The unions ask for an urgent meeting to find a definitive solution, to avoid further episodes, through the effective use of maintenance activities.
