Construction of a shelter in steel and polycarbonate
News
Icomet found itself faced with the need to satisfy a series of requirements regarding the construction of some shelters at a school in Avellino.
In particular, the shelters had to be made of a material that did not block the light from the path, was resistant to bad weather and could be curved, all with the aim of carrying out a workmanlike job.
To meet the request, it was decided to use the 8 mm thick Apasolid compact polycarbonate sheet as the covering material for the shelters, which thanks to its transparency allows light to enter, lightening the structure but ensuring high resistance to impacts and bad weather.
The ductility of the material allowed it to be cold bent directly on site, thus directing rainwater towards the gutter channels and downspouts.
To allow faster construction site processing, new anodized aluminum joining profiles were used, including a “hood” which, fixed by snap joint, closes the upper part of the profiles, hiding the fixing points, a solution which was appreciated and approved, leading to an excellent final result!
